AMD Launches New AI-Focused Processors at CES 2026
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. announced the Ryzen AI 400 Series processors on Monday at the Consumer Electronics Show, positioning them as a key advancement in AI-powered personal computing.
AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su opened the company's CES keynote by highlighting the potential of compute technology to deliver artificial intelligence capabilities to everyday users. The Ryzen AI 400 Series represents the latest iteration in AMD's lineup of AI-enabled PC chips, succeeding the Ryzen AI 300 Series introduced in 2024. The Ryzen processor family dates back to 2017.
According to AMD, the new processors provide 1.3 times faster multitasking and 1.7 times faster content creation performance compared to competing products. Each chip includes 12 CPU cores and 24 threads, allowing for efficient handling of multiple instruction streams.

Rahul Tikoo, senior vice president and general manager of AMD's client business, noted during a press briefing that the company has expanded support to more than 250 AI PC platforms -- a twofold increase over the past year. "In the years ahead, AI is going to be a multi-layered fabric that gets woven into every level of computing at the personal layer," Tikoo said. "Our AI PCs and devices will transform how we work, how we play, how we create and how we connect with each other."
Tikoo further emphasized AI's role in reshaping daily interactions with technology. "No matter who you are and how you use technology on a daily basis, AI is reshaping everyday computing," he said. "You have thousands of interactions with your PC every day. AI is able to understand, learn context, bring automation, provide deep reasoning and personal customization to every individual."
Gaming Processor and Technology Updates
In addition to the general-use AI processors, AMD unveiled the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, the newest in its gaming-oriented processor line. This chip is designed to support high-performance gaming applications.
The company also introduced an updated version of its Redstone ray tracing technology, which simulates the physical behavior of light to improve video game graphics. This enhancement aims to deliver more realistic visuals without compromising system speed or performance.

Personal computers incorporating either the Ryzen AI 400 Series, the Ryzen AI 300 Series, or the Ryzen 7 9850X3D will become available from manufacturers in the first quarter of 2026.
