MINISFORUM and AMD held a product experience event in Beijing on December 10, 2025, introducing two flagship AI computing devices: the MS-S1 MAX AI mini workstation and the N5 Pro AI NAS. The event, titled "Leading Intelligent Computing, Renewing the Core for the Future," featured demonstrations and discussions on AI's role in enhancing productivity for businesses and individuals.

Executives from both companies, including MINISFORUM Chairman Roy Jiang and AMD Senior Director of Marketing Jovi Chi, emphasized the partnership's goal of advancing edge and endpoint AI through compact, efficient hardware. The collaboration leverages AMD's Ryzen AI processors to deliver high performance in small form factors.

MS-S1 MAX: Compact Workstation for Local AI Models

The MS-S1 MAX is designed as a versatile AI mini workstation capable of scaling from desktop use to rack-mounted clusters. It incorporates the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, which has 16 cores and 32 threads, paired with a Radeon 8060S GPU. The device supports up to 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000MT/s quad-channel unified memory.

Connectivity options include high-speed USB4 V2 ports, dual 10GbE LAN interfaces, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, enabling flexible deployment in various environments. The workstation can run large language models locally, such as Llama 109B and DeepSeek-R1 70B. When clustered in a four-node setup, it handles the DEEPSEEK 671B Q4 model.

Compared to a traditional 5U server equipped with an RTX 5090 GPU, the four-node MS-S1 MAX cluster reduces volume by about 50%, power consumption by 80%, and costs by up to 77%. Each node operates at a full-load power draw of 180W, totaling 0.72 kW for the cluster, versus 4-5 kW for the server alternative. This efficiency makes it suitable for on-premises AI inference in content creation, research, and edge computing applications.

The MS-S1 MAX is currently available through MINISFORUM's official brand shop for $2,639.90 as part of a Christmas promotion.

N5 Pro: AI-Enabled Network Attached Storage

The N5 Pro represents an advancement in network-attached storage by integrating AI processing capabilities, allowing it to function as a secure AI PC. It is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 processor, offering 12 cores and a boost clock up to 5.1 GHz, with up to 80 TOPS of neural processing power.

Storage capacity reaches 144TB through a hybrid configuration of five HDD bays and three SSD slots. It supports up to 96GB of DDR5 ECC RAM and features expansion via a native PCIe x16 slot and OCuLink interface. Running on MinisCloud OS, the device facilitates local deployment of large language models while prioritizing data privacy.

Applications include an intelligent photo library for automated organization, a secure media center, a work vault for sensitive files, and smart home data management. The N5 Pro targets homes and small teams seeking integrated AI and storage solutions without compromising security.
